Argonaut Software, the developers behind several cult classics of the late ’90s and early 2000s, have expressed interest in bringing back Buck Bumble, a little-known Nintendo 64 exclusive that has gained online popularity thanks to its memorable soundtrack.

The Buzz Around Buck Bumble

Dragon Quest Series Visual Retrospective

Released in 1998, Buck Bumble featured a robotic bee protagonist in a third-person shooter format, complete with full 3D aerial movement. While its gameplay was divisive at the time, its catchy, vocal-heavy intro theme helped it gain a second life online—especially on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, where the theme has become a meme among retro gaming fans.

In a recent interview, former Argonaut developers mentioned that they’d love to revisit the title—possibly alongside another cult hit, I-Ninja—but acknowledged Buck Bumble’s obscurity due to its exclusivity and limited release.

Retro Dreams and Revival Hopes

I-Ninja is a game that’s very well-regarded but underappreciated, and we’d love to return to it. Buck Bumble too—but it was exclusive to the N64, so not many people know about it. We hope Buck Bumble gets its time in the spotlight eventually,” said the team in the interview.

Whether that revival would come as a full remake, remaster, or Nintendo Switch Online addition remains to be seen. For now, Buck Bumble remains a hidden gem for collectors and retro fans alike, buzzing quietly through gaming history.

More N64 Gems Could Be Coming

With Nintendo 64 titles gradually expanding on Switch Online + Expansion Pack, fans are hopeful games like Buck Bumble and I-Ninja could eventually return, giving a new audience the chance to discover their quirky charm and experimental mechanics.
