House of the Dead 2 Remake Hits Switch August 7

Share

The House of the Dead 2: Remake is officially lurching onto Nintendo Switch this August, with SEGA and Forever Entertainment confirming a release date of August 7, 2025. The cult arcade shooter is back with modern visuals, enhanced sound, and co-op play—perfect for blasting through waves of undead this summer.

Back from the Dead

Dragon Quest Series Visual Retrospective

Originally released in arcades in 1998, The House of the Dead 2 has become a staple of on-rails horror shooters. The remake aims to keep that energy intact with gameplay faithful to the original while upgrading the experience for today’s players. SEGA and Forever Entertainment promise modern graphics, a remastered soundtrack (with the option to switch to the classic version), and support for local co-op mode right out of the gate.

The game also features multiple endings and branching paths, making each run a little different depending on who you save—or fail to save. Expect plenty of that late ’90s arcade cheese, just now with cleaner resolution and a slightly less grainy zombie snarl.

Only Switch Confirmed—For Now

As of now, the August release has only been confirmed for Nintendo Switch. Neither SEGA nor Forever Entertainment have mentioned a Nintendo Switch 2 version or any upgrade path. But with so many third-party titles making the leap to the new hardware lately, don’t be surprised if we see an announcement closer to launch. We’ll keep you posted if anything develops.
