Castlevania reboot may be heading toward a major comeback. While Konami hasn’t officially confirmed a new installment, trusted sources at VGC—including journalist Andy Robinson—report that a big-budget Castlevania title is still in active development.

AAA Castlevania Reboot Still in the Works

Dragon Quest Series Visual Retrospective

After the recent release of Castlevania Dominus Collection on Nintendo Switch, speculation about the franchise’s future has grown louder. The rumors point to a full-scale reboot of the legendary gothic action series—something that hasn’t been attempted since Lords of Shadow.

According to VGC, the new title is described as a “reimagining” of Castlevania and is reportedly being developed internally in Japan. It’s said to include support from local external studios, though early speculation also linked MercurySteam—developers of Metroid Dread—as a possible partner. That connection, however, remains unconfirmed.

“It’s still on the way,” Robinson noted in a recent update on VGC, reiterating that the project hasn’t been cancelled or delayed beyond 2025.

Konami’s recent activity has focused on Silent Hill f, the Metal Gear Solid Delta remake, and a tease of a Silent Hill reboot—making this Castlevania revival one of the few remaining legacy franchises yet to get an official spotlight. With summer showcases and Tokyo Game Show on the horizon, fans may not have to wait much longer.

The Castle Still Stands

While we wait for an official reveal, this report keeps hope alive for a return to Dracula’s domain. Whether it’s a reboot, a reimagining, or something completely new, all signs point to Castlevania rising once again—possibly sooner than expected.
