Above: Street Fighter 6 Fighters Edition on Switch 2 confirms cartridge + DLC code setup.
Cartridge for Base Game, Code for Extras
Capcom’s upcoming “Fighters Edition” package includes:
- Base game (Street Fighter 6) on cartridge
- Year 1 Fighter Pass (4 characters, extra stages)
- Year 2 Fighter Pass (DLC characters, new cosmetics)
- Bonus drive tickets for customization
Both Fighter Passes and digital bonuses will be accessed via a one-time-use eShop code included in the box. As with other high-content titles on Switch 2, physical space limitations are likely a factor.
Switch 2 Fighter Edition Pricing & Launch Info
The retail version is expected to cost $69.99 USD, and will launch day-one with the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Early pre-orders in Japan have already opened.
Capcom previously confirmed that Switch 2 would support Street Fighter 6 at 1080p in docked mode with performance scaling in handheld. It will also support rollback netcode and online cross-play with other platforms.
Packaging Strategy Aligns with Other Switch 2 Releases
This cartridge + code setup mirrors what other publishers are doing for large-scale third-party titles on Switch 2. The hybrid approach helps avoid multi-cart shipping while still offering players a physical box on shelves.

Final Thoughts
Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 will be a strong litmus test for the console’s third-party support. Capcom’s decision to go with a cartridge + code hybrid feels practical — but collectors may still prefer everything on cart. Still, having rollback netcode, full launch parity, and strong visual output on Nintendo hardware is a win worth celebrating.
